Please join the discussion about the importance of prints, from both emotional and data driven points of view. Veronica Cotter, with Hahnemühle USA, will be on hand to help lead the discussion, starting with the importance of paper and its aesthetic connection to the image. Participants are encouraged to bring an example that demonstrates the power of the print. From family snapshots to iconic images, all are equal in their impact on our psyche.

Join Sigma technical specialist Aaron Norberg for an introductory course on the fundamentals of imaging optics to learn all about lenses. In this presentation we’ll discuss the basic differences in focal lengths, compare the benefits of prime and zoom lenses, and lay out some of the considerations made in optical design as well as how Sigma approaches bringing our lineup to market. You’ll walk away knowing how to navigate through the broad range of lens options to pick the right one for you and how to put focal length and aperture to creative use in your own endeavors.

Moab Presents: DIY Fine Art Printing: Learn to Love Your Printer and Understand ICC Profiles for the Best Prints Possible
Many photographers look back with nostalgia to the process of printing film negatives in the wet darkroom. In this interesting and compelling lecture and demo, Evan Parker will reveal how to bring that love of process and technique into today’s digital darkroom. He will share how printing with archival inks on a variety of substrates can be creative extensions of your photographic work that can open doors to new ways of realizing projects. He’ll discuss creative aspects of printing workflow, and how these play into creating terrific prints. He will also simplify the printing process with things you can do in your studio to help color accuracy, accurate image reproduction, and more. This will be an interactive and hands-on workshop: participants are encouraged to bring a digital file to print during the session. We’ll tackle your printing questions, and leave you confident in the printing process.
